Adjunct Faculty for Biology

The Biology Department at College of Notre Dame of Maryland is seeking adjunct faculty to teach the following courses in the Fall of 2008.

BIO213L Microbiology Laboratory: Covers basic laboratory subjects such as sterile technique, staining, and differential media and includes directed student projects which culminate in a poster presentation. The laboratory meets for one three-hour session per week during the semester and an additional hour before or after laboratory should be scheduled for student questions. Technical support is provided for media prep and laboratory set-up.

BIO243 Animal Behavior: Analyzes behavior of animals from diverse perspectives, including genetics and the environment as well as the evolutionary causes and consequences of behavior. Class meets for three, two-hour sessions per week. Lecture and laboratory experience are integrated into this single time slot. The incumbent is allowed freedom to design lectures and laboratories.

BIO307 Ecology: Examines the relationships between living organisms and their environment. Class meets for three, one-hour sessions per week. Students in this lecture also are enrolled in BIO307L Ecology Laboratory. Preference will be given to applicants capable of teaching both. The incumbent is allowed freedom to design lectures and laboratories in consultation with the Department chair.

BIO307L Ecology Laboratory: Focuses on field experiences and the practical use of field techniques. Laboratory meets for one, three-hour session per week. All students are also enrolled in the lecture section, BIO307 Ecology, and preference will be given to applicants capable of teaching both. The incumbent is allowed freedom to design lectures and laboratories in consultation with the Department chair.

Admissions Counselor for Women's College

College of Notre Dame of Maryland seeks a 2 Admissions Counselors. Both counselors will serve as the initial and primary point of contact for prospective students (and their families) to the Women’s College at College of Notre Dame of Maryland. One position will work primarily with transfer students. The Women’s College enrolls about 600 students in 27 undergraduate majors. The admissions counselors will report to the Director of Admissions and will collaborate with financial aid, faculty and the college at large to execute a comprehensive recruitment strategy to meet enrollment goals. Admissions Counselors also works closely with the Vice President for Enrollment Management and the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management/Registrar.

The admissions counselors will manage prospects from inquiry to enrolled student by territory/region. Travel and evening and weekend work is frequently required. Duties of the recruiter include: participating in information sessions and interview nights; communicating with prospective students (in person; by phone; by Email); promoting the College at college fairs; presenting the benefits and value of a Notre Dame degree to prospective students and their families; managing administrative details associated with applying to College; using technology to manage outreach and communication flow to prospective students.

A bachelor’s degree is required for these positions. Strong communication skills, previous admissions, alumni relations or sales experience are desired. Database Specialist

College of Notre Dame of Maryland is seeking an enthusiastic, entry- level database specialist. This position provides an excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic applications develop team in support of various aspects related to the creation, support, documentation and training of ERP business processing applications used at the College. Qualified applicants must have completed or be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related field or have equivalent experience, and have a minimum of one year experience using a database tool, preferably Microsoft SQL. Candidate must have experience using the MS Office in a Windows XP environment and a basic understanding of reporting and web tools, practices and procedures, and have at least three years experience using PC- based applications including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Share Point Services and/or Exchange. Additionally, qualified candidates must demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn database systems and languages, and to research and learn database system reporting utilities. Director of Admissions/Senior Associate Director

The Director of Admissions/Senior Associate Director for the Women’s College at College of Notre Dame of Maryland provides leadership in the planning and implementation of the recruitment strategies for the traditional undergraduate programs in the Women’s College. Director of Annual Giving

The part-time Recruiter (20 hours per week) for Weekend College and Accelerated College programs will serve as the initial and primary point of contact for prospective students to the adult programs at College of Notre Dame of Maryland.
