Gormley Hosts ‘Everyone an Artist?’ Exhibit
Baltimore, Md., January 6, 2009 -- “The Art of Collecting,” an Everyone an Artist? exhibit featuring the work of college students in partnership with resident artist Denise Tassin, will be shown in Gormley Gallery at College of Notre Dame of Maryland from Wednesday, January 28, through Friday, March 6.
“The Art of Collecting” will consider how “stuff” begins to define who we are. Ms. Tassin’s collections of objects and materials will be displayed alongside student works from local institutions including College of Notre Dame, Towson University, Maryland Institute College of Art and Loyola College in Maryland.
Opening reception will be held Thursday, February 5, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Art on Purpose, an organization dedicated to using art to bring people together around issues and ideas, is organizing a series of exhibitions at 13 Baltimore-area colleges and universities in a groundbreaking project exploring the relationship between art, creativity and just being human. Nine Everyone an Artist? exhibitions will be held through May and will feature hundreds of works by college students throughout the region presented alongside art by Ms. Tassin, the Art on Purpose resident artist for this project.
Gormley Gallery is supported by a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council, an organization dedicated to cultivating a vibrant cultural community where the arts thrive. An agency of the Department of Business and Economic Development, the MSAC provides financial support and technical assistance to nonprofit organizations, units of government, colleges and universities for arts activities.
