Political Science
Notre Dame students who major in Political Science develop strong analytical skills as well as mastery in the basic concepts necessary for understanding historical and contemporary political issues. A political science major prepares students for various careers, particularly in education, politics, and law.   Students with interests in law, social justice, war/peace, human rights, American Politics, comparative politics, politic theory and/or international politics should consider Political Science as a major.

The political science major occurs in the context of a joint department.  The disciplines of history and political science link the humanities and the social sciences.  Historians and political scientists share interests in government, politics, social and economic interactions, civic participation, and international relations.  Together the two disciplines help students develop a wide perspective on human society and its institutions, past and present.
