Dutta Appointed To Pharmaceutical Sciences

Asish Dutta, Ph.D.Baltimore, Md., October 26, 2009 --- College of Notre Dame of Maryland School of Pharmacy has appointed Asish Kumar Dutta assistant professor, pharmaceutical sciences.

Dr. Dutta comes to College of Notre Dame School of Pharmacy from Patheon Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where he was a scientist in formulation and process development. Prior to that appointment, Dr. Dutta worked for Othera Pharmaceuticals, Inc., first as a research scientist then as a senior research scientist.

In addition to serving as an instructor and teaching assistant at University of Mississippi, Dr. Dutta has also worked as an intern in the chemical and pharmaceutical department of Wyeth Research.

Dr. Dutta holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from the University of Mississippi and a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Jadavpur University in Calcutta, India.

He has published his work in several peer-reviewed journals and is a reviewer for several professional journals including Journal of Chromatography A, Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Journal of Pharmaceutical Biology. Dr. Dutta is an active member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists.

College of Notre Dame School of Pharmacy welcomed its inaugural class this fall and is the first school of pharmacy on the campus of a women’s college in the United States. The program, with 70 students per class, provides a distinctive focus on leadership development and women’s health care across the lifespan and is open to women and men.
