Notre Dame snaps three-match losing streak against Alvernia

BALTIMORE, Md. – College of Notre Dame of Maryland snapped a three-match losing streak by defeating Alvernia College in a PAC match-up 5-1; with two matches called due to darkness.

Senior Meryl Krich (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco High School defeated Hannah Dickey 7-5, 6-1 in No. 2 singles. Junior Marie Claire Santiago (Guyanabo, P.R./Colegio Puertorriquendo de Ninas) beat Janine Horning 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles; and junior Allison Najewicz (Nottingham, Md./Perry Hall High School) downed heather Leader 6-3, 6-4 in No. 5 singles. The Gators were up in the second set of both No. 4 and No. 6 singles 2-1, after losing the first set, when the match was called due to darkness.

Santiago and junior Roxana Beyranvand (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg High School) took the No. 2 doubles win 8-6. Najewicz and sophomore Casey Pollard (Sayreville, NJ/War Memorial High School) teamed up at No. 3 doubles to beat Leader and Katie McComack 8-1.
