Camp Notre Dame
Welcome to another wonderful summer at Camp Notre Dame!
After a summer at Camp Notre Dame, children enter the following school year with new friends, new information and a feeling of security about themselves and their world. At Camp Notre Dame, we have confidence in our program and in your children. We make a place for them to create and discover.
You can find current registration and tuition information in the 2012 Camp Notre Dame brochure. For additional questions, please call 410-532-3588, or email Sue Bane at sbane@ndm.edu.
Notre Dame also hosts a summer camp for children ages three to six years old through A Child's Place.
Camp Program
Camp Notre Dame is open Monday through Friday. Planned activities take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. At no additional charge, campers may be dropped off as early as 8 a.m. and picked up as late as 5 p.m. A nominal fee of $2 per child per 15-minute increment is charged for early drop-off (beginning at 7:30 a.m.) and late pick-up (ending at 5:30 p.m.).
Camp Notre Dame is staffed by experienced counselors who are committed to providing your child with a meaningful and rewarding summer experience. Each group is supervised by a senior counselor, junior counselor, and, for the younger groups, a counselor-in-training. Boys and girls are placed into groups of 12 to 15 campers of the same general age.
Campers have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of sports activities such as softball, soccer, soft stick lacrosse, tennis and other active games. Music, theater, and arts and crafts also make each day enjoyable and exciting at Camp Notre Dame.
The University's beautiful, 58-acre wooded campus offers children many opportunities to experience their camp activities outdoors.
Swimming
Swimming is held in Notre Dame's indoor pool twice a day. The instructional swimming program is conducted in the morning under the sponsorship of certified water safety instructors. Recreational swimming is held in the afternoon.
Special Events
Each summer, at no additional charge, a number of special events are offered to expand a camper's fun and learning experiences. Previous summers have featured magicians, Wild Time Animal Show, a moon bounce and a variety of other performers.
Rainy Days
Camp is open during inclement weather. In case of rain, there will be activities, games and special events planned indoors for the campers.
Equipment/Clothing
No uniform is required; a t-shirt, shorts and sneakers are suggested. Campers will need a bathing suit and a towel daily for swimming. It is a good idea to provide your child with a tote bag. Sports equipment will be provided.
End of Session Celebration
The last day of each session of Camp is celebrated with a pizza party (a letter will be sent home asking for a nominal fee to cover the cost of pizza). In addition, family and friends are invited to a music and drama performance given by the campers. (Session 1 will not have a performance.)
Food
Please send your child's lunch with her/his name written clearly on the outside of the bag. The Camp provides a healthy snack.
T-Shirts
Each camper receives a Camp Notre Dame t-shirt at no extra charge.
Medical Information
Camp Notre Dame does not provide medical insurance. Parent(s) are responsible for any/all medical expenses. At least four staff members are certified in CPR and First Aid in the event of an emergency.
