Academic Awards

The History/Political Science Department confers two awards annually.

• The Mildred Otenasek Award, named for a distinguished professor emeritus, is given to the student with demonstrated academic excellence and skills in leadership and civic engagement .
• The Jeanne Hackley Stevenson Award in History and Political Science is given annually to a junior or senior student majoring in history/political science who reflects the academic excellence the Department strives to achieve.

 
Honor Societies

The department supports local chapters of two honor societies:

1. Pi Sigma Alpha, the national honor society in political science, and
2. Phi Alpha Theta, the national honor society in history.
