Operation Teach

OperationTEACH (Teachers Enlisted to Advance Catholic Heritage), an innovative two-year teacher-preparation program, seeks to develop a corps of highly motivated and committed young educators to meet the needs of our region’s Catholic elementary and secondary schools.

University Consortium for Catholic Education
OperationTEACH is a member of the University Consortium for Catholic Education (UCCE). This consortium seeks to establish and support a growing cadre of colleges and universities as they design graduate teaching service programs. Learn more about the UCCE and its member programs.

Become a professional educator
During the program, operationTEACH participants study learning theory and principles of effective teaching as they pursue the Master of Arts in Teaching degree at College of Notre Dame of Maryland. At the same time they gain hands-on experience teaching in area diocesan schools. This combination of theory and practice provides participants with a solid background in teaching.

Live in a small Christian community
OperationTEACH participants live in small communities of four to seven members. Local dioceses provide affordable housing for each community, allowing them to share their spiritual and professional growth by teaching, living and learning together. Community is an integral part of OperationTEACH. Program participants share experiences that foster group reflection, as well as retreats and workshops.

Grow spiritually
Service to others is the spiritual core of OperationTEACH, which is rooted in the mission of the Catholic Church. Through reflection on the teachings of the Church, members are called upon to deepen their faith as they put it into action each day.

Make a lasting impact
OperationTEACH members make a difference in the lives of the students they reach, in the individual schools in which they work, and with their fellow community members. Perhaps the most significant impact participants will see is in their own lives.
