For students who wish to pursue their interest in the Latin language and Classical culture, history and literature. 18 graduate credits
This program includes study tours to countries once controlled by Rome; credits for tours can be applied toward the certificate requirements if the tour is related to either the Latin language or ancient civilization.
- demonstrated proficiency in Latin
- satisfactory scores on Graduate Studies grammar and usage
- tests/essay (waived for those with a master's degree)
Credits may be applied to the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies degree, or 12 of the credits may be used for a Latin concentration within the Master of Arts in Leadership in Teaching degree. Time limit: within 4 years of admission. Fifteen of the 18 credits must be completed at Notre Dame; 3 credits may be transferred.
