Through our certificate program, you can travel the world, master a new language and use your credits to earn a post-graduate degree.
For students who wish to learn more about ancient Roman language, history and literature, our 18-credit graduate-level program is the ultimate experience. The course of study includes tours to countries once controlled by Rome, allowing you to earn credits toward your certificate through travel.
To gain admission into our Latin certificate program, you must:
- demonstrate proficiency in Latin;
- score satisfactorily on Graduate Studies grammar and usage;
- and complete tests and/or an essay. (This requirement is waived for those with a master's degree.)
Credits may be applied to the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies, or 12 of the credits may be used for a Latin concentration within the Master of Arts in Leadership in Teaching.
Your certificate must be completed within 4 years of admission, and 15 of the 18 credits must be completed at Notre Dame; three credits may be transferred.
