All Current School of Education Student Teachers/Teacher Candidates
Notre Dame of Maryland University and the School of Education are extremely pleased to announce that the Hattie M. Strong Foundation has once again selected our university to be the recipient of two $5,000 scholarships, one to be awarded to a current School of Education student teacher/teacher candidate during the fall 2012 semester and one to a graduate intern in the 10-month MAT program during the spring 2013 semester.
The award will be granted based upon the following criteria in descending order of importance:
- Interns in their final year of study
- Undergraduate interns who have exhibited outstanding success and enthusiasm in field experiences prior to the final year of the program or graduate interns whose life experiences prior to enrollment reveal the same traits
- Interns with demonstrated financial need
- Interns who have achieved a minimum 3.0 GPA in the two semesters prior to their final year
- Interns who (to date) are demonstrating outstanding teaching ability in their internship experience
- Interns who clearly understand the significant role they must play in promoting student achievement

The application (to be completed online), the intern’s one-page resume (to be emailed), and the completed reference form (to be completed online) must be completed/submitted no later than 4:00 PM on October 31, 2012 to Dr. Gary Thrift at gthrift@ndm.edu
