CONTENT:

This course will provide instruction of rudimentary and traditional manipulations of acrylic and oil painting mediums. A wide variety of techniques and subject matter will be explored as each student develops technical ability and personal aesthetic.

No previous experience in drawing or painting is necessary for this course.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1. Introduce a fundamental technical manipulation of various drawing mediums.

2. Experience a variety of subject matter.

3. Develop individual artistic and aesthetic interests.

METHODS:

1. In-class demonstrations.

2. In-class studio practice

3. Slide lecture presentations

4. Group critiques.

REQUIREMENTS AND ASSIGNMENTS:

Students are required to submit paintings that are created in the classroom.
