ART-204-20, Watercolor Painting

CONTENT:

This course will introduce the practice of watercolor painting and familiarize students with the many unique technical and visual possibilities of the medium. Through Interpretive assignments students will explore a variety of subject matter and develop technical virtuosity and personal aesthetic.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1. Introduce fundamental possibilities and manipulations of the watercolor medium.

2. Practice and apply skills learned to a variety of subject matter.

3. Familiarize students with artists from the past and present who have specialized in the medium.

4. Provide an opportunity for students to explore watercolor as it relates to their individual artistic sensibilities.

5 Foster and assist the growth of personal work quality and consistency through experimentation and individual concentration of interests.

REQUIREMENTS AND ASSIGNMENTS:

Students are required to submit a portfolio of paintings that are created in the classroom and through homework assignments.

No text. A kit of basic materials will be provided. Some additional materials will be purchased by the student.
