CONTENT:

This course will provide hands-on experience in the use of digital media tools that will enrich your ability to produce effective media content within the communication fields. We will be utilizing print media tools, video/audio production, as well as web and social media to produce and curate content that is meaningful and effective. At the same time we will learn to interact with other professionals in our field and reflect critically on this experience.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

You will learn to create the following: graphic design and identity materials, videos that help effectively communicate a message, and finally, web and social media content. Ultimately, this course hopes to foster the meta-skill of applying communications into new media forms in productive, creative, and intelligent ways. Flexibility and the ability to experiment and think critically will be among the most vital abilities that this course will help to foster.

METHODS:

The course will serve to enhance your knowledge and implementation of various digital tools used in the communication fields. You will complete a number of projects applicable to professional situations that will enhance the job-search portfolio.

Assignments:

Illustrator, Photoshop, iMovie - 20%

Social Media Campaign:  

Logo Identity, Print Materials, Web Materials, Videos - 60%

Online Interest Board (Pinterest Board) - 10%

Participation:

Participation in class discussions - 10%
