Looking for a place to complete your baccalaureate degree? Whether you have your associate’s degree or are a college student still searching for the right fit in a school, you will find a warm welcome at College of Notre Dame.
The College has a long history of providing quality educational programs meeting the needs of all students and has been proud of the opportunities it affords transfer students – whether they are traditional students studying full-time in the Women’s College or working professionals balancing full-time work and part-time study in the Accelerated/Weekend College programs.
Transfer students are eligible to receive up to 68 credits from a community college and up to 90 credits in transfer from another four-year institution. Transfer credits are evaluated utilizing the College’s transfer policy and all prospective students have the opportunity to have their credits evaluated prior to applying to Notre Dame. In that way, they have a clear picture of how the transfer credits will fit into the bachelor’s degree program, what the remainder of the academic program will look like and how long the program will take to complete. The transfer counselor in the Women’s College and the enrollment managers in the Accelerated/Weekend College can provide this unofficial evaluation and transfer overview during an initial, individualized visit to campus or during one of the many transfer fairs and programs in which the college representatives participate.
Selection for transfer admission
Applications for admissions are reviewed and students are accepted on a rolling basis. Students should plan to apply EARLY. The priority deadline for transfer admissions to the Women’s College is March 15th for the fall semester and December 15th for the spring semester. Applications are taken after the priority dates but first consideration for scholarship and invitation to the Morrissy Honors Program is given to those students who applications are on file at that time.
Applications to Accelerated/Weekend College are completed on a rolling basis year-round. However, we encourage all students to apply and be accepted at least a month before the start of each semester, especially if they are planning to utilize financial aid.
The following information is assessed during the application review process:
- Quality and strength of each student’s curriculum
- Grades received in all college-level courses, especially those in the liberal arts, math and sciences
- Writing skills as evidenced through a student essay or writing sample
- Leadership, service, volunteer work, etc. as outlined in a student résumé (Women’s College applicants)

Financial aid is available to all students. A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required to access these resources. All students should plan to file the FAFSA for consideration of assistance from the federal/state government, external companies/agencies and Notre Dame institutional need-based grants. Additional information on financial aid and other important forms can be found on the financial aid Web site.
Additional transfer information
College of Notre Dame wants to make the transition from college to college a smooth one for all transfer students. Connecting with the transfer counselor in the Women’s College or the enrollment managers in the Accelerated/Weekend College provides each student with valuable information about the transfer process, the credit evaluation and the admissions process.
The College is also part of the Maryland Articulation System (ARTSYS) used by the community colleges within the state to provide recommended transfer programs to students during their first two years of study. The information in ARTSYS allows students to view how their credits will transfer from their local community college to Notre Dame.
If there are any questions about the information in ARTSYS, students should contact either their admissions counselor/enrollment manager or the registrar at Notre Dame.
In addition to the valuable information provided to all students through ARTSYS, the college also maintains formal articulation agreements. Articulation agreements show the course by course outline of how general education requirements and/or department-specific requirements are transferred to Notre Dame’s academic program of study.
Currently, Notre Dame has official articulation agreements with the following colleges/universities (general education as well as department to department agreements in selected programs of study):
- China Women’s University
- College of Southern Maryland
- Community Colleges of Baltimore County (CCBC)
- Cottey College (Missouri)
- Howard Community College
- Prince George’s Community College
Additional agreements are in progress or under review (spring 2010) with the following colleges/universities:
- Anne Arundel Community College
- Harford Community College
- Yew Chung College (Hong Kong)
Notre Dame is consistently working with the area colleges to develop additional program to program specific agreements. Each year the college identifies new program agreements based on conversations with community college colleagues and transfer students.
In addition to the participation in ARTSYS and the articulation agreements listed above, the college also participates in the state-wide articulation programs for the RN to BSN completion (Nursing) and the AAT to Bachelor’s degree program for education students.
