2007-2008 Season Outlook
Notre Dame's move to the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference is made with a veteran tennis roster that faces a significant change in 2007-2008. The Gators will play their primary tennis season during the fall for the first time in College history. The change will not make a difference in the talent level, however, which is led by sophomore Miku White and senior Meryl Krich. White finsihed the 2007 season with a 10-4 singles record.
Krich posted a 10-3 singles record in 2007 and enters the fall on pace to break the college's all-time singles and doubles victories records. in three seasons, Krich has a 30-16 singles record and is one win shy of tying the school record of 31 wins, held by current Notre Dame Assistant Coach Katie Gwiazdowski. Krich also has a 35-8 doubles record. With five doubles victories, she will pass Emily Yanero for most doubles wins by an individual.
As a team, Krich and White finished the 2007 season with a 13-0 doubles record.
The Gators also have solid depth behind the top two positions. Junior Marie Clair Santiago posted a 6-5 record and second-place AWCC finish in No. 3 singles, while fellow junior Roxana Beyranvand was 9-4 and won the No. 4 singles title at the AWCC Championships.
Also a junior, Allison Najweicz was 9-5 during the spring and won the No. 5 singles flight at the AWCC Championships. Sophomores Amanda Hollister, Casey Pollard and Paige Seibert also add court depth for the Gators.
