Power Hour Plus: Networking Series 2014–15
In this dynamic job market, it’s important to stand out. To help Notre Dame graduates achieve career success, the Networking Committee of the Alumnae and Alumni Association has created the Power Hour Plus series — networking events, just-for-fun activities and professional and personal development workshops conducted by engaging, knowledgeable speakers. Events are offered in the evening and on weekends throughout the academic year.
Thank you to all who were able to attend the lecture and book signing by Gerry Sandusky, Voice of the Ravens, on October 1. The lecture on the writing process and the stories behind the book - Forgotten Sundays: A Son's Story of Life, Loss, and Love from the Sidelines of the NFL - was insightful.
On Wednesday, October 15, Carol Haislip from the International School of Protocol gave a useful and informational lecture on appropriate conversation topics for social gatherings, tips for overcoming “mingle-phobia” and how to:
- successfully enter a room, join groups and initiate conversations
- make a great first impression through a proper handshake, eye contact, introductions and appropriate nonverbal communication
- be interested — and interesting! — in conversation
- master the art of a graceful escape
