The TOMS Shoes Story: Lessons Learned in Social Entrepreneurship
The 13th Annual Charles J. Busta III Lecture in Business
With Shira Shafir, Director of Social Innovation and Impact at TOMS
Tuesday, April 19, 7 p.m., Knott Auditorium
Free and open to the public.
Each year, Notre Dame brings women leaders in business to campus to share their insights on a broad range of professional fields, and stories of their career paths. This year’s Busta lecture welcomes Shira Shafir, Director of Social Innovation and Impact at TOMS.
Known for their One for One giving program that includes shoes, sight- and water-giving, maternal and health-giving interventions, TOMS is transforming the well-being of women, children, and communities in the developing world. Come hear Shafir talk about the “double bottom lines” of profit and social impact, and lessons learned when using business for good. A Q&A session will follow the talk. The event is free, but completion of a short registration form (below) is required.
Shira Shafir, PhD, MPH is the Director of Social Innovation and Impact at TOMS, an industry leader in social business. She is also focused on guiding and building a body of evidence that illuminates and supports the positive and compelling role of all aspects of TOMS Giving Strategy (currently focused on footwear, sight, safe water, safe birth and bullying prevention and response giving interventions) in areas such as health, education, well-being of children and economic impact in the developing world and the United States.
