Notre Dame's Field Hockey Team Honored by Peers
December 2, 2013
Notre Dame of Maryland University’s field hockey team has been named a recipient of the Colonial States Athletic Conference’s 3-D Award, which honors the teams from each sport that best exemplified the NCAA Division-III principles of "Discover, Develop, Dedicate."
The 3-D Award was developed prior to the 2011 academic year by the CSAC's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Following each conference contests, participating teams were asked to evaluate their opponents based on the three aforementioned Division-III principles, giving a rating of 1-10 in each "D" category. Based on those ratings, NDMU’s field hockey squad claimed 3-D accolades by their peers.
“I want to thank and congratulate Ashley Demski and Mike Harnden, our Field Hockey Coaching Staff, for their leadership of the NDMU Field Hockey program,” said Erin Foley, NDMU Athletic Director. “This award is especially meaningful because it is voted upon by the student-athletes of the CSAC.”
"For the third year in a row, we are extremely pleased with the reception of the 3-D award among our conference's student-athletes," said CSAC Commissioner Jennifer Dubow. "The conference commends the fall 3-D winners, and thanks them for their commitment to upholding the principles of NCAA Division-III."
