Registration Opens for Spring Spanish Language and Culture Classes at Notre Dame of Maryland University

December 6, 2012

Notre Dame of Maryland University has begun registration for two Spanish Language and Culture classes that will run during the spring semester.

Two sessions of Spanish Language and Culture (Part 1) will be offered on Tuesdays starting on February 19 and running through April 30 (excluding March 26). Afternoon sessions will be offered from 3 to 5 p.m. and evening sessions will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m.

Spanish Language and Culture (Part 2) will be offered Monday afternoons from 4 to 6 p.m. starting February 18 and concluding April 29 (excluding March 25).

Spanish Language and Culture (Part 1) is geared toward professionals or volunteers who work with the Hispanic community in schools, hospitals, parishes, community-based organizations or other nonprofits, or other settings. The language component enables one to learn basic conversational skills and elemental phrases to better communicate with Spanish-speaking persons. Good pronunciation, listening and speaking skills are emphasized. The cultural component emphasizes the spirituality, customs and traditions of Hispanics.

Spanish Language and Culture (Part 2) emphasizes good pronunciation and speaking skills and provides greater focus on grammar, particularly the past tense, in order to increase conversational skills. Further study of cultural expressions to deepen understanding of the Hispanic community will be explored.

Enrollment is limited, and early registration is recommended. The fee for each course is $400 per person or $1,050 for three participants if registered by February 4. After that date the fee is $425 per person or $1,125 for three participants.
