December 6, 2010
College of Notre Dame of Maryland has begun registration for two Pastoral Spanish classes that will run during the spring semester.
Spanish Language and Culture for Pastoral Settings (Part 1) will be offered each Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. starting February 22 and running through May 3 (excluding April 26).
Spanish Language and Culture for Pastoral Settings (Part 2) will be offered Monday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. starting February 21 and concluding May 2 (excluding April 25).
Spanish Language and Culture for Pastoral Settings (Part 1) is geared toward professionals or volunteers who work with the Hispanic community in parishes, schools, hospitals or other pastoral settings. The language component of the class enables students to learn basic conversational Spanish and elemental phrases. Pronunciation, listening and speaking skills are emphasized. The cultural component of the class focuses on the spirituality and faith expressions of the Hispanic community.
Spanish Language and Culture for Pastoral Settings (Part 2) emphasizes good pronunciation and speaking skills and provides greater focus on grammar, particularly the past tense, in order to increase conversational skills. Further study of cultural expressions to aid in ministry to and deepen understanding of the Hispanic community will be explored.
Enrollment is limited, and early registration is recommended. The fee for each course is $400 per person or $1,050 for three participants if registered by February 8, 2011.
