Student Health Center
The center is staffed by board certified nurse practitioners and physicians. The center is affiliated with Sinai Hospital, which provides medical coverage after hours. In addition, Sinai provides a rotation of pediatric and internal medicine residents from Sinai and Johns Hopkins hospitals.
In most cases, students will be seen by a nurse practitioner. Nurse practitioners are registered nurses with advanced clinical education degrees and are qualified to evaluate, diagnose and prescribe. They also are qualified health educators who instruct students about self-care and provide medical counseling as needed on a one-on-one basis.
Student Health Center facilities include five examination rooms, one observation room, a laboratory and pharmacy.
All full-time Women's College undergraduate and English Language Institute students are eligible to use the services of the Student Health Center.
The Student Health Center operates on an appointment basis during its hours of operation. Please call to schedule an appointment. Students who are too ill to walk to the center may request a Safety and Security escort by calling extension 5360 (on campus) at least two hours prior to their appointment.
There is no fee for appointments with a nurse practitioner or physician for routine primary care. Students are responsible for costs associated with prescription medications and laboratory testing.
