Center for Career and Service Learning
The Center for Career & Service- Learning (CCSL) holistically addresses the vocational calling and career aspirations of the campus community, including students, alumnae, faculty and staff. By exploring professional growth--not only in terms of a career, but in terms of an entire life--students utilize CCSL throughout their four years at College of Notre Dame of Maryland.

Service-learning and other experiential opportunities such as internships are coordinated through the center. They provide an excellent vehicle for students to combine what they learn in the classroom with experiences outside of the classroom, preparing them for a holistic and balanced life.

Because service is central to the mission of Notre Dame, CCSL works closely with students, faculty and staff to encourage as many types of service involvement as possible. Service-learning courses are offered in a variety of disciplines and majors (click here for additional information). Information, training and support for volunteer opportunities and community-based jobs for federal work-study students are available.

Services Offered

The CCSL enables students to reach and/or define life goals through a variety of services and events:

  • Individual counseling, advising, career assessment/interpretation
  • Connections to on and off site job & career fairs
  • Group orientations to experiential learning opportunities
  • Workshops and seminars on a myriad of career topics

Through collaboration with area employers, the Center for Career & Service-Learning provides a unique annual job fair open to all members of the Notre Dame community. Opportunities in part-time and summer employment and possibilities for internships, service-learning and community service are available to Women’s, Weekend and Accelerated College students. Full-time employment opportunities are available for graduates across all divisions. Finally, full-time mid-career and experienced employment opportunities are available for Notre Dame alums and graduate students.

CCSL also connects our student community to other student communities across the greater Baltimore area through coordination with the Maryland College Consortium (MCC), a network of 11 area private and public colleges and universities, and with the Selected Liberal Arts Consortium (SLAC), a network of 11 area liberal arts institutions.
