Assistant Director of ELI
Jessica is originally from upstate New York, where she earned her B.A. in English Literature. She was introduced to the world of ESL teaching during a homestay in Guatemala, where she volunteered at a school for Mayan children who lived outside of the city.
Returning home from that amazing experience, she decided to dedicate her life to teaching ESL and international education. She earned her M.A. in English Linguistics from George Mason University, with TESOL Certification. She has taught ESL in several countries, and has lived overseas for nine years, in Mongolia and Colombia.
Over the past 12 years, she has taught ESL in primary schools, high schools, at the university level, TOEFL and IELTS preparation, Literacy training, Citizenship courses and TESOL training for future teachers. She enjoys working with students from all over the world and being a part of their academic journey.
Jessica speaks Spanish as a second language, but also knows a little Russian, Turkish, and Mongolian. As a linguist, she is fascinated by the process of learning new languages, and is currently practicing her Arabic alphabet.
Besides spending time with her husband and two daughters, Jessica enjoys reading, dancing, playing tennis and exploring new places around Baltimore.
