Enrollment Information

The College of Adult Undergraduate Studies is designed primarily as a part-time program. Many of our students work full-time and complete their degree through evening, weekend, online and hybrid course offerings.

In order to maintain a matriculated status (officially accepted to a degree program), students must successfully complete at least one course per year. We encourage students to participate in at least one course per term (Fall, Spring, Summer) to stay on track.

Full-Time Study

If your work schedule provides the flexibility to study full-time, please understand that this might require taking courses during the day. The University does not advise students to attempt to study AND work full-time.

Admissions Criteria

The admissions process at Notre Dame includes a close review of pertinent academic background and test scores to ensure students are ready for the academic rigor of the program.

Applicants with Fewer than 15 College Credits
  • High School Diploma with a Minimum 2.5 GPA or if applying with a GED, a score of 145 or higher on the GED® is needed (Performance Level 2: Pass/High School Equivalency). Older GED scores will be reviewed individually. (Official Transcript Required)
  • Resume with Minimum One Year of Work or Military Experience (Beyond High School)

Note: Students applying as freshman (no college credit) will be required to take a placement assessment for admissions and placement into the appropriate courses. Students will also need to take the ENG-101 course (either at Notre Dame or an approved off-campus location) during the first two semesters of study.

Applicants with 15 College Credits or More
  • Official College Transcripts for Every College Attended (Grades Needed for Transfer Review)
  • Cumulative GPA of at Least 2.5

Note: All submitted transcripts for transfer review must be from regionally accredited college/university.

International Applicants
  • Official Transcripts (High School or College) Translated and Evaluated through World Education Services (WES) for Course-by-Course Credit Evaluation and U.S. Equivalencies
  • Official TOEFL Test Score — Minimum of 550 (Paper Test) or 173 (Computerized) or 80 (IBT Testing)
  • High School or College grade point average of 2.5 or higher (see above)
  • Financial Affidavit (Utilizing the College Board International Form)

International Applicants with Fewer than 15 College Credits

In addition to the admissions criteria above, international applicants with fewer than 15 college credits should also supply the following:

  • High School Diploma with a Minimum 2.5 GPA or a GED Score of 2500 or Higher (Official Transcript Required)
  • Resume with Minimum One Year of Work or Military Experience (Beyond High School)

Important

International students attending Notre Dame on an F-1 student visa MUST be full-time. Students may need to take day classes in order to reach the 12-credit full-time status.

Financial Aid Assistance

In order to receive financial aid benefits, you need to take at least 6 credits each semester (Fall, Spring, Summer).
