Notre Dame of Maryland University will offer a University-sponsored student health insurance plan for the 2020-21 academic year. This new plan ensures that students with pre-existing conditions will be able to obtain health coverage.

WellFleet Student will offer coverage beginning August 1, 2020 through July 31, 2021.

Who is Eligible?

All Full-Time NDMU Students:

  • Undergraduate Women's College - Taking at least 12 credits per semester
  • College of Adult Undergraduate Studies - Taking at least 12 credits per semester
  • College of Graduate & Professional Studies - Taking at least 9 credits per semester
  • School of Pharmacy Students - Taking at least 10 credits per semester
  • English Language Institute - Automatically enrolled

Take Action

As an incoming or returning full-time undergraduate or graduate studies student, you are required to either enroll or waive the University-sponsored plan through an online process. We encourage you to take action now. 

How to Enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan

  1. Visit wellfleetstudent.com and search for your Notre Dame of Maryland University.
  2. Select enroll on the NDMU landing page.
  3. Select the option on the left-hand side to enroll.
  4. Complete the enrollment form.
  5. Choose your medical plan.
  6. Review and confirm your submission. If applicable, you will be asked for payment. You will then review and submit.
  7. View and print your ID cards.

How to Waive Coverage

  1. Visit wellfleetstudent.com and search for your Notre Dame of Maryland University.
  2. Select waive on the NDMU landing page.
  3. Create or sign into your secure account.
  4. Complete your student profile.
  5. Provide your existing insurance information.

Once the online waiver form is completed, you can process your waiver in real-time. You will receive a waiver status notification on-screen and via email with all relevant information included.

Deadlines to Enroll or Waive Benefits

All full-time undergraduate students have until the following dates of their starting semester to make their choice to either enroll or waive the insurance plan through WellFleet Student’s online system if they do not wish to pay for the University’s student health insurance plan.

Note: Those who do not opt-out will be billed for this coverage through the University’s Business Office as part of their student bill.

If you are not registered as a full-time student but would like to explore options for health coverage, please contact the WellFleet Student customer service department at 877-657-5030 to discuss the cost and coverage at an individual rate.  

Annual Process

Please keep in mind that this is an annual process. If you return to Notre Dame of Maryland University as a full-time student next year and wish to keep the University-sponsored plan, you will need to repeat the enrollment process.

If you decide not to keep the plan next year, you will be required to complete the waiver process and provide information regarding comparable health coverage for the upcoming year.
