(BALTIMORE, Md.) Selected for her expertise in the nursing profession, a Notre Dame of Maryland University professor will serve as an evaluator of academic programs seeking accreditation through the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation.

Rodnita King Davis, an NDMU assistant professor and director for entry-level nursing programs, will support excellence in nursing education around the country as an accreditation program evaluator. She was also appointed to a two-year term on the national accreditation body’s Standards Committee.

“I am honored to contribute to the profession of nursing and support quality improvement in nursing programs with my knowledge and expertise,” said Professor Davis. “
This opportunity will enhance my base of understanding and knowledge about the accreditation process. In addition, serving as a program evaluator will inform my work as a program director in NDMU’s nursing programs.”

Program evaluators ensure that students in accredited nursing programs receive the most effective education to deliver exceptional patient care. The accreditation process includes a rigorous review of a self-study report and a site visit by three or four program evaluators, which includes interviews with faculty, staff, and students.

Professor Davis demonstrates her commitment to nursing education through her recent contributions to the profession. She is an author or co-author of six scholarly publications since 2019. She was a 2021 member of the inaugural American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s Graduate Nursing Student Academy for Digital Innovators. She is also a candidate in the nursing education doctoral program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. At NDMU, she acts as a mentor for first-generation college students in the NDMU School of Nursing and was named an interim advisor for junior and senior students.

“I am looking forward to what’s next for how I can impact nursing and the NDMU with the talents that God has given me,” said Professor Davis.
