Incoming NDMU students that meet academic requirements will be invited to apply to the Morrissy Honors Program through the NDMU application portal.

Become a Morrissy Scholar

First, apply to the University. Once accepted, those who meet the honors academic requirements will be invited to apply to the Morrissy program. Contact your admissions counselor if you have any questions.

Application Requirements

  1. Academic Standing: We have your transcripts on file, which qualifies you to apply for this program. There is no need to submit your transcript again.
  2. Letters of Recommendation: Upload two letters of recommendation.
  3. Essay: Write an essay in which you develop the idea of the Elizabeth Morrissy Honors Program motto: “Learn to Live.” This should be about 500 words and one-page in length.
  4. Resume: Include a copy of your resume which includes your involvement in student and/or community affairs.
  5. Standardized Test Scores: Include a copy of your SAT/ACT scores (Optional, but recommended)

A faculty committee reviews the records of first-year students and transfer students to prepare a cohort of potential scholars.

Current NDMU Students

Each semester, current NDMU students are invited to apply by faculty recommendation at the request of the director.

Ordinarily, the honors cohort comprises 15 percent to 20 percent of each class.
