Doctor of Pharmacy
The pharmacy profession is evolving, and NDMU is helping to push that evolution. Our Pharmacy Studies program combines the latest practices and philosophies with a distinct focus on leadership development, and it lays the foundation to further your pursuit of the field through our Doctor of Pharmacy program.
Moreover, at NDMU, you will experience a low student-to-faculty ratio and learn from supportive faculty across the spectrum of clinical, administrative, and pharmaceutical science. Plus, our location in Baltimore (and nearby Washington, D.C.) provides a wealth of opportunities for experiential learning, including rotations at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, FDA, NIH, and other world-class organizations.
Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences
The Notre Dame of Maryland University (NDMU) School of Pharmacy has initiated a new academic program for Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (MSPS). The Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences degree program trains and develops students interested in drug discovery, drug action or drug delivery, enabling students to disseminate new knowledge in pharmaceutical research. Areas of concentration include pharmaceutics, pharmacology and medicinal chemistry during the second year of the Master's curriculum, when students choose their track of interest.
Accelerate Your Degree (The 2+4 Program)
The 2+4 pharmacy degree track pathway provides NDMU undergraduate students an accelerated route to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree within a span of 6 years. This program expedites the academic journey and offers the advantage of saving two years of tuition while granting two degrees – a Liberal Arts degree with a focus on Pharmaceutical Science and a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree.
The curriculum is designed based on the first two years of the Bachelor of Arts in Pharmaceutical Sciences program, serving as a model for students to complete their pharmacy prerequisites in two years. Additionally, it provides an alternative degree pathway for students who do not progress into the professional degree program.
Certificate in Leadership & Entrepreneurship
The Notre Dame of Maryland University School of Pharmacy has a Certificate in Leadership & Entrepreneurship designed for Doctor of Pharmacy students with a special interest in innovative leadership within the healthcare landscape. Rooted in accreditation requirements from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), the certificate aligns with the profession’s growing need for pharmacists who can lead, innovate, and adapt in complex healthcare systems. The program includes five courses—three existing required courses and two new electives—focusing on management, leadership development, finance, and entrepreneurial thinking. Building upon concepts such as the Lean Start-Up model, the program embraces a broader view of entrepreneurship beyond owning an independent pharmacy. The 14-credit certificate will be completed by the end of the third professional year at no additional cost and will be noted upon graduation, preparing students to contribute meaningfully to healthcare innovation and enterprise.
