Associate Professor's Recently Published Article 

Dr. Katherine A. Beauchat, Associate Professor in the School of Education, recently published Beyond Bookshelves and Bulletin Boards: Embedding Culturally Responsive Pedagogy into Literacy and Math Instruction in the Wisconsin State Reading Association Journal (Vol. 62, No. 1). In the article, she highlights practical strategies for integrating literacy and math through culturally relevant children’s literature, using Gary Soto’s Too Many Tamales as a model to connect reading, vocabulary, and problem-solving while honoring students’ identities and experiences.

Assistant Professor Has Many Scholarly and Professional Achievements

Michelle L. Dean, assistant professor and director of the Graduate Art Therapy Program, published a peer-reviewed book chapter, “The deconstructed meal: Intersectionality of body image and sex positivity with patients with eating disorders and sexual trauma,” in the book, Bridging theory and practice in psychosexual therapy: Cultural and clinical global insights. Dr. Dean also:

  • Is the featured lecturer on a two-part virtual series, C. G. Jung and His Art: Creative Process, Symbolism, and the Development of Analytical Psychology, in February 2026 for the Chinese Institute of Psychology.
  • Was selected to present a peer-reviewed poster, From Fantasy to Form: Art Therapy, Archetypes, and the Transformative Power of Kink and BDSM, in May 2026 at the Society for Sex Therapy and Research Annual Meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
  • Was selected to present a paper and conduct a clinical demonstration entitled, Developing Cultural Sensitivity in Psychosexual Therapy: Global Perspectives into Diverse Therapeutic Approaches, in May 2026 at the 3rd Annual International Symposium on Sex Therapy in Budapest Hungary.
  • Was selected to present her paper, The Deconstructed Meal: Intersectionality of Body Positivity and Sex Positivity with Clients with Eating Disorders and Sexual Trauma, in June 2026 at the 2026 American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists Annual Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico

Measuring Your Research Impact Workshop

Measuring your impact is an important step in the research process for gathering evidence of how your research will impact society. It is also important when applying for positions, for promotion and tenure, and for grant funding. This introductory workshop will provide an overview of traditional and nontraditional scholarly metrics and will discuss tools to promote your research impact. Topics covered include: citation analysis, journal impact factor, h-index, and altmetrics.
