Biology Department Represents NDMU at Women in Science Forum

Biology major Odelia Nanou and Biology faculty members Drs. Jewel Daniel and Jennifer Kerr represented Notre Dame of Maryland University at the 28th Annual Women in Science Forum, at Towson University on February 28th, 2026. The Women in Science Forum provides an opportunity for science faculty, students interested in science and mathematics careers, as well scientists and mathematicians from academia and industry to meet, network, and learn about current research. 


School of Education

Associate Professor of Education Angelo Letizia Publishes New Peer-Review Article

Poetry, Discussion Boards and Intersubjective Space was published in the Whale Road Review (42, Spring). The article reconceptualizes discussion boards in asynchronous courses as intersubjective spaces and calls for the use of poetry in those spaces.

Atiera Abatemarco, Associate Professor in the School of Integrative Health, Published a Children's Book.

Edith the Earthworm: The Tale of a Natural Recycler is a children's book (ages 2-8) that follows an earthworm named Edith on an adventure through a garden, teaching about nature, recycling, and friendship through colorful illustrations and a read-aloud-friendly story. Published in early 2025, it includes educators' notes and lesson ideas, exploring themes of ecology, identifying plants, and the importance of earthworms in a fun, engaging way.

Pharmacy Students and Faculty Travel to Annapolis

Legislative Day, sponsored by the Maryland Pharmacy Coalition—which includes all pharmacy organizations and the three schools of pharmacy in Maryland—brought together more than 300 pharmacists and student pharmacists, including over 70 from NDMU. Participants met with every legislative office in Maryland to advocate for the pharmacy profession and discuss several bills directly impacting pharmacy practice in the state.

Pharmacy Students Travel for 2026 NACDS RxIMPACT Day on Capitol Hill

Selected NDMU pharmacy students were honored to attend the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) where students can train to become the next generation of pharmacy advocates. Among the many topics discussed was the enactment of pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) reforms.

Join Dr. Lynn Nehemiah, White Marsh Historical Society, and Dr. Laura Masur, Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Catholic University, as they discuss the complex historical legacy of Jesuit slaveholding in Maryland and its lasting impact today. A reception and opening of the exhibit Reckoning and Renewal: Confronting Slavery and Its Legacies at Loyola University Maryland will follow the discussion.
