Biography

Mallory Van Fossen, MA, ATR-BC (she/her) is a board-certified Art Therapist and the Clinical Coordinator of the Arts in Health Program at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). In this role, she directs innovative programming and collaborates closely with hospital and military leadership to advance integrative care for service members. Her leadership and contributions have been recognized with multiple awards for excellence in service and program development. Beyond her clinical work, Mallory is a founding associate faculty member at Notre Dame of Maryland University, where she designs and teaches courses in the Graduate Art Therapy Program. She also serves on the faculty of the Maryland Institute College of Art, where she teaches Art and Human Development in the Master of Arts in Teaching Program. Mallory earned her MA in Art Therapy from Drexel University and her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She has pursued post-graduate training in professional project management and advanced strategic planning, strengthening her capacity to design, implement, and evaluate large-scale clinical initiatives. She is a frequent national presenter on art therapy, with engagements at the Conference of the American Art Therapy Association, American University, the National Institutes of Health, Marine Corps Base Quantico, and on public radio. She is also a former President of the Maryland Art Therapy Association.
