Programs I teach...

Dr. Riekers graduated from the (former) Essex Community College Physician Assistant Program in 1998. After that, she began her clinical practice as a Physician Assistant in gynecologic oncology, later becoming the lead PA for the medical hospitalist service at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Dr. Riekers led twelve PA colleagues caring for inpatient medical and surgical patients. Before joining the NDMU PA Studies Program as its Clinical Director, she worked as part of a PA inpatient neurosurgical team at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Riekers worked closely with attending physicians, residents, and students. She has acted as a clinical preceptor during her entire career and recently precepted PA fellows within the Johns Hopkins Surgical Residency Program.

Dr. Riekers earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 1995. In 2004, she completed a master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from the University of Nebraska and most recently earned a Doctor of Medical Science Degree from the University of Lynchburg in 2022. She has published in the JAAPA medical journal and done poster presentations on her original research at the National Society of Hospital Medicine Conference.

Dr. Riekers, outside of work, enjoys boating with her family and playing with her two dogs. She is also an avid runner and enjoys training for marathons.
