BALTIMORE, Md. – At just 20 years old, Christopher Brockett ’26 has already built an impressive academic and leadership foundation. Graduating from Notre Dame of Maryland University with a bachelor’s degree in leadership in hospitality and event management, Brockett has spent his college years balancing academic excellence, military preparation, and ambitious goals for the future.
Brockett’s path to success began early. While still in high school, he earned an associate's degree in hospitality management from Prince George’s Community College – a milestone that helped shape his future career interests. Through that experience, he discovered a passion for service and leadership that continues to guide him today.
“I came to love what hospitality management entailed,” Brockett shared. “A career in service, whether in a hotel or cruise ship capacity, could be something I’d like to do whenever I’m out of the military.”
In addition to excelling academically, Brockett has dedicated himself to the ROTC program, where discipline, teamwork, and leadership are part of everyday life. His weekly schedule includes early morning physical training sessions beginning at 6 a.m., followed by classes and leadership labs throughout the week. Through ROTC, he has developed skills that complement his studies and prepare him for future service.
Brockett has ambitious plans for the future, beginning this fall at Towson University. While fulfilling his ROTC commitment, he also plans to pursue a master’s degree in human resources, a credential he believes will make him even more competitive for the leadership role he hopes to attain. Looking further ahead, Brockett intends to build a long-term career in the Army, with plans to serve 25 years before retiring. After military service, he hopes to transition into a leadership position in the corporate world.
Reflecting on his experience at NDMU, Brockett says the university’s professors made the biggest impact on his journey. He describes the faculty as knowledgeable, adaptable, and deeply committed to student success. Whether teaching within their own disciplines or stepping in to support other programs when needed, Brockett said professors consistently “knocked it out of the park.” Their understanding and flexibility were especially meaningful as he balanced a rigorous academic schedule alongside his ROTC responsibilities.
Brockett is quick to give credit to those who have helped him accomplish all that he has. “The help from my parents and the motivation from them has been tremendous,” he said. “They’ve pushed me to get the best grades possible, and it’s helped me in ROTC, my graduate applications, and every facet of life. I cannot appreciate them more.”
With a strong academic record, proven leadership experience, and determination to keep reaching higher, Brockett’s future is exceptionally bright. When asked about what lies ahead, his response reflected the confidence and ambition that have defined his journey so far:
“Sky’s the limit? Oh, not even that. We can go even higher now.”
