The talented chefs from SAGE have transformed mealtime at Notre Dame of Maryland University into a daily culinary adventure. Our students are treated to real food, cooked from scratch. SAGE`s seasonal menus are custom designed for us, reflecting the students` preferences as well as the fresh products available in the market. SAGE`s registered dietitians review and approve each menu to ensure that it offers a wide variety of nutritious choices.

Dining Hall Hours

Dining Hall hours for Spring 2021

M-F Breakfast: 7:30 am – 8:30 am
M-F Lunch: 10:30 am – 1:30 pm
M-F Dinner: 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm
Weekend Brunch: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Weekend Dinner: 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Dining Hall Service

Residential students can use their meal swipe at the door during designated hours. If a residential student cannot make it to the Dining Hall during the open hours of operation, they can utilize the Meal Request Form and coordinate a pickup with the SAGE team.

Faculty, Staff and Commuter Students are now welcome to pre-purchase a meal swipe online to be used in the Dining Hall. Meal swipes need to be purchased at least 30 min prior to the desired meal service here. Cash and credit will not be accepted at the door. If faculty, staff or commuter students cannot make it to the Dining hall during the open hours of operation, they can utilize the Gator to Go Premade option and coordinate a pickup with the SAGE team.

Q: What do the menus for the modified meal service look like for residential service for Spring 2021?

A: Breakfast: Availability to make your own choices!

  • Cold station choices may include:  Fuit & Yogurt Cup, Fresh Cut Fruit, Cold Cereal with Milk, assortment of Juices
  • Hot station choices may include:  Pancakes or Waffles, Breakfast Sandwich or Casserole, Oatmeal or Grits, Bacon, Sausage, Turkey Bacon, Breakfast Potatoes, Muffins and Cinnamon Rolls
  • Always available: Gluten Free Muffins and Bagels, Cookies and Bread

Lunch and Dinner:  Every station will be open to choose from! 

  • Salad and Sandwich Bar:  Days will alternate with a Specialty Sandwich or Salad made to order, along with pre-made side salads and a variety of deli Sandwiches.  Soups will include a vegetarian option, and one Chili each day.  Pre-packaged snacks such as Hummus & Pita Chips or Cheese & Crackers available daily
  • Mangia! Mangia!: Will include a Pizza, Pasta or Sub Sandwich with a Mediterranean flair
  • Crossroads:  Our casual "street food" style station.  It will have a vegetarian OR meat option each day with choices that may include:  Chicken Wings, Hot Dogs/Veggie Dogs, Fish & Chips, Tacos, Burgers, etc.
  • Main Ingredient:  Our entree station, that will consist of one hearty meat OR vegetarian option.  Possible dishes may be: Chicken Tikka Masala, Risotto Cakes, Jerk Pork Loin with Pineapple Salsa, Teriyaki Vegetable Lo Mein
  • Desserts will include House-Made daily special with Ice Cream Novelties always available
  • Drinks will include Fountain Soda and Spa Water
  • Coffee will be available during Breakfast and Lunch

Q: How do meal plans work?

All resident students are required to be on a residential meal plan.  The University offers one campus meal plan. University Meal Plan: 19 meals a week and 5 guest passes per semester.

Q: How do I sign up for a meal plan?

A: Students will automatically be enrolled in the University Meal Plan.  Your student ID is your meal card for dining on campus and is required for access to Doyle Dining Hall.  If you are a commuter student, faculty or staff member, you can purchase a meal plan block or you can load funds onto your account to get reduced daily meal rates when eating in Doyle Dining Hall. Q: What dates are meal plans in effect for the 2020-2021 school year?

Meal plans for residential students will be in-effect beginning Thursday, August 20th and the first day for meal service is Thursday, August 20th

The last day the meal plans will be in-effect/last day of meal service Tuesday, November 24th

The first day of meal service for the Spring Semester will be Saturday, January 23, 2021.

The last day of meal service for the Spring Semester will be Friday, May 14, 2021.

Q: What if I lose my ID card?

A: If you lose your card, please report it to security at ext. 5324 immediately.  A new card may be issued through the IT (Information Technology) Office at ext. 5200.  You must have a card for on-campus dining.

Q: What if my card does not work?

A: Email amahmoud@sagedining.com to schedule a time to meet.  We will help you resolve the problem.

Q: Can a friend use my card?

A: Sorry, no one else can use your card.  The meal plan is considered to be a non-transferable agreement between you and the University and cannot be traded. Residential students do, however, have five guest passes per semester that they can use and bring a guest into the Dining Hall or eat in Gator Alley.

Q: What if I have to work or attend class and cannot make it to Gator Grind or Doyle Dining during the hours it is open?

A: Residential and commuter students, faculty & staff can order to-go options for breakfast & lunch through SAGE’s new online ordering system which can be accessed by logging into your CaterTrax account. These meals can be picked up at the Gator-to-Go window in Gator Alley at designated times.

If you are a residential student with a meal plan, and it is outside the hours of operation for the Dining Hall or Gator-to-Go, you can place an order using the meal request form and pick it up directly from the SAGE office in Doyle Hall.

Q: What if I have special dietary needs?

Q: How can I purchase a meal for my visitor?

A: Residential students can use one of their five guest passes or pay by credit card for a guest.  Please ask the cashier.

Q: How do I know what's on the menu?

A: Menus are posted weekly on the dining hall doors.  Menus are also available on the University's web site.

Q: How do meal swipes work?

A: Students get 3 swipes per day, Monday through Friday, and 2 swipes on both Saturday and Sunday.

  • One swipe can be used for breakfast at the Gator to Go window between 7 AM and 9 AM  - M - F only
  • One swipe can be used during the brunch period in the Dining Hall OR at the Gator to Go window between 9 AM and 2 pm
  • One swipe can be used during the dinner period in the Dining Hall

To-Go Breakfast: 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.
To-Go Lunch: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Gator Grind will feature new options for breakfast and lunch to-go and will even be able to take orders online for maximum safety and convenience. Breakfast items include bagels, fruit cups, smoothies, and muffins. Lunch includes a standardized menu with rotating daily options that include salads, sandwiches, soups, and personal pizzas.

Catering Services

Our on-site caterer, SAGE Dining Services, can accommodate any size event from box lunches for a small training class to an elegantly themed wedding for 140 guests. It is the only caterer permitted on campus.

For internal events on campus – please submit your catering orders on CaterTrax. Please note, we request 10 days’ notice or a late fee may be applicable to your order.

For external rentals on campus – please coordinate your catering order with the Auxiliary Services team, events@ndm.edu
