The 2020 Commencement Ceremony will be held at the Royal Farms Arena, formerly Baltimore Arena (201 W. Baltimore Street) on Sunday, May 17.

Doors to the arena will open at 9 a.m. and the processional will begin at 10:30 a.m. The Commencement program begins promptly with the procession and should end around 1 p.m.

Graduates and their families and friends are encouraged to leave ample time to arrive at the arena. The University strongly suggests that out-of-town guests stay at hotels in close proximity to Royal Farms Arena to avoid traffic and parking delays.

We will provide a video of the Commencement Exercises online following the ceremony for those unable to attend.

Tickets for Commencement are not required; however, graduates must submit RSVPs for both themselves and their guests by May 1st.

Venue Information

Royal Farms Arena has increased all security measures. All parcels entering the building will be searched including purses, lunch bags, backpacks, briefcases, camera bags, et cetera. Please cooperate with all requests for inspection.

  • Visitors exiting the building will not be allowed re-entry.
  • Helium or Mylar balloons and air horns are not allowed in the Royal Farms Arena.

The NDMU Bookstore will remain open during Commencement Weekend Events and will also be present on site at Royal Farms Arena prior to the Commencement ceremony for graduating students only.

For your convenience, a flower vendor will also be on site in the Royal Farms Arena. You can pre-order your flowers to pick up prior to the ceremony.

Personal Belongings

Graduates should refrain from bringing personal belongings (purses, cell phones or other electronic devices) to Commencement. There is no secure location to store these items, and they should not be carried into the ceremony.

Neither the University nor Royal Farms Arena will be responsible for lost personal items.
