Notre Dame of Maryland University has formally launched the search for its 15th president following Dr. Marylou Yam’s announcement that she will conclude her transformative 12-year tenure at the end of the 2025–2026 academic year. Throughout her presidency, Dr. Yam has driven historic institutional growth marked by unprecedented enrollment gains, record-breaking fundraising, and expansive academic innovation.
The University is embarking on a comprehensive, nationwide search to identify a president who can build on these achievements and continue advancing NDMU’s mission. This search commences at a pivotal and dynamic moment as NDMU, celebrated for its liberal arts and professional focused programs, is positioned for growth and continued institutional transformation. The Board seeks a visionary, strategic, and mission-oriented leader prepared to honor the University’s 130-year foundational heritage while articulating a bold, forward-looking strategy to advance NDMU’s mission, build on a sound foundation of academic excellence, enrollment, and financial strength, and amplify its regional impact within the higher education landscape. The new president is expected to take office on July 1, 2026.
