NDMU’s Jump in U.S. News Best Colleges Rankings Reaffirms Position as Best Value Leader

Caroline Hall

BALTIMORE – Notre Dame of Maryland University continues to rank as one of the region’s best value schools and one of the nation’s top universities overall, as all of its rankings increased in the 2024 U.S. News Best Colleges list.

NDMU jumped nine places to #39 in the northern region for the Best Value Schools ranking and tied at #54 for top schools in the region, an increase of 14 spots. Notre Dame had one of its greatest increases with a 45-spot jump into a tie at #18, making it #1 among Maryland schools, on the Top Performers in Social Mobility list.

The social mobility rankings are designed to indicate how well the University graduates students with demonstrated financial need. The 2024 U.S. News Best Colleges rankings also includes Notre Dame’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program among the nation’s best.

“Notre Dame is committed to providing students with an inclusive transformational education that prepares them to become the best versions of themselves,” said Dr. Marylou Yam, president of Notre Dame of Maryland University. “This year’s U.S. News Best Colleges rankings reaffirm what we already know: Notre Dame’s dedicated faculty and staff create an enriching collegiate experience for students to learn and grow.”

U.S. News & World Report develops its rankings based on 17 indicators to determine academic quality, including student outcomes, graduation and retention rates, social mobility, faculty resources, expert opinion, student excellence, and alumni giving. The magazine includes more than 1,400 institutions that award bachelor’s degrees.

Established in 1895, Notre Dame of Maryland University (NDMU) is a private, Catholic institution in Baltimore, Maryland, with the mission to educate leaders to transform the world.
