Program Location

The History minor at NDMU offers flexibility to choose the courses that interest you and complement your studies in consultation with the department chair.

Curriculum

One of the following courses is required:

HIS-228 World History Since 1500
HIS-456 Junior/Senior Seminar in History

The rest of the courses needed to complete the 18-credit history minor are chosen with guidance from the department chair.

Outcomes

Graduates of the History program will be able to:

  1. Graduates of the History program will be able to analyze political events within their historical context, assess alternative perspectives and interpretations, and use evidence to support critical analysis of political and historical issues.
  2. Graduates of the History program will be able to assess and evaluate historical and political research methods, and conduct effective research using appropriate methods, technology, and tools to access, evaluate, and incorporate information.
  3. Graduates of the History program will be able to consider the ethical dimensions of political and historical issues.
  4. Graduates of the History program will be able to analyze the political impact of diversity, the historical evolution of identity within and across cultures, and the relationships between power, inequality, and identity.
  5. Graduates of the History program will be able to explain and apply the values and skills essential for engaged citizenship, including through internship and/or service-learning experience.
