Biography

Associate Professor of Integrative Health Research with over a decade of experience designing, teaching, and assessing evidence-informed practice (EIP) coursework in complementary and integrative health (CIH). My research focuses on how people access, interpret, and apply integrative health information. My background spans mental health, corporate wellness, and behavior change. I have led and collaborated on research examining the access, feasibility, and impact of integrative care approaches, including yoga, nutrition, and health coaching.

Research Interests

  • Population Patterns of Supplement and Health Behavior Use: Analyze national survey and real-world data to characterize supplement use, health behaviors, and alignment with evidence-based indications. Identify gaps between scientific evidence, public understanding, and clinical recommendations to inform education, policy, and practice.

  • Evidence Communication for Public and Clinical Audiences: Produce accessible, research-grounded syntheses of biomedical and nutrition science for broad audiences, converting primary literature into accurate, balanced, and actionable guidance while minimizing misinformation and overstatement of effects.

  • Health and Research Literacy: Design, implement, and validate educational approaches that improve learners’ ability to locate, interpret, and apply scientific and clinical evidence. Focus on building practical information-literacy skills—database searching, source evaluation, and evidence-based decision-making—and measuring competency development in health professions and integrative health contexts.

  • Integrative and Complementary Health Research Methods: Evaluate complementary and lifestyle-based interventions (e.g., yoga, herbal and nutritional supplements, mind–body therapies) using observational studies, surveys, and clinical research frameworks. Develop and apply reporting standards and methodological guidance (e.g., Delphi-based consensus guidelines) to improve transparency, reproducibility, and interpretability of non-pharmacologic intervention research.

  • Evidence Synthesis and Knowledge Translation: Conduct systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and guideline development to evaluate the efficacy and safety of clinical, behavioral, and integrative health interventions. Emphasis on rigorous study appraisal, risk-of-bias assessment, and translating complex evidence into clear, decision-ready formats for clinicians, educators, and the public, including contributions to Cochrane reviews and evidence summaries.
