The Daily Record Honors NDMU with Its Second Empowering Women Award
BALTIMORE, Md. – The Daily Record has named Notre Dame of Maryland University as a recipient of a 2025 Empowering Women Award, recognizing companies and organizations that show a strong commitment to supporting and elevating women in Maryland. The winners were honored at the Women’s Leadership Summit on Oct. 30 at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
Honorees were judged on documented hiring and promoting of women; leadership positions held by women; advocacy for the cause of women internally and externally; and efforts to cultivate the next generation of women professionals. Winners were selected by The Daily Record leadership team. Winners will be profiled in a special magazine that will be inserted into the Oct. 31 issue of The Daily Record and will be available online.
“The 2025 Empowering Women winners know that advancing women in the workplace makes good business sense. These organizations demonstrate how hiring and recruiting women benefit their businesses and the community,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, managing director of BridgeTower Media/The Daily Record. “We at The Daily Record congratulate this year’s honorees for their ongoing commitment to women leaders in Maryland.”
NDMU was a recipient of the inaugural Empowering Women Award in 2023. Since then, the University hosted its third Women of the World (WOW) Festival, which is one of the biggest global festivals dedicated to promoting gender equity. In April 2025, WOW Baltimore attendees heard from spotlight speaker, three-time Olympic gymnast Dominique Dawes, who shared insights on resilience, overcoming challenges, and pushing beyond boundaries in every aspect of life.
NDMU is one of only two producers of the WOW Festival in the United States, which helps to connect the University to resources and global advocates for promoting the advancement of women. NDMU previously hosted the WOW Festival Baltimore in 2016 and 2018 (the 2020 festival was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
