BALTIMORE, Md. – BALTIMORE, Md. – Notre Dame of Maryland University’s School of Education has launched a post-baccalaureate certificate that prepares educators, school leaders, and student supporters to use artificial intelligence responsibly in learning environments and positions them for the future of education.

The Leadership, Education & Research in AI for the Next Generation (LEARN-AI) Post-baccalaureate Certificate is designed to empower students to examine AI through an ethical, equity-centered lens, research and implement responsible, inclusive AI tools, and design human-centered learning experiences. The LEARN-AI program focuses on enhancing teaching, learning, and assessment practices while fostering ethical awareness of AI’s implications in education.

The fully online certificate program allows working professionals the flexibility to go at their own pace to grow their understanding of generative AI, machine learning, and data-informed instruction. Students can complete the four-course certificate program in just one year.

“Change is inevitable, and artificial intelligence is now a permanent part of our world,” said Dr. Ryan Schaaf, associate professor of educational technology and the LEARN-AI program director. “While many schools have long upheld strict policies prohibiting its use, that approach no longer serves the best interests of students or educators. The LEARN-AI program is about empowering educators to explore AI’s potential and its limits—ethically, critically, and creatively.”
