Cooking with SAGE is a fun opportunity for campers and families to come together in the kitchen and learn new recipes and cooking techniques during daily LIVE sessions with a SAGE chef! Each week will focus on a different topic – from pizza dough and cake decorating to pierogis and gnocchi – your camper will walk away with new knowledge and skills.
By opting in to purchase the Cooking with SAGE at home kit, campers will receive their own set of equipment and tools to follow along the LIVE video sessions each day, as well as an organized ingredient list to make a quick trip to the grocery store easy and fun!
Each day, campers will learn about the cooking topic and recipe or how and why each step in the recipe is important. At the end of the week, recipes will be assembled for a final product and on Friday’s campers will have the opportunity to share their creations and explain why they chose their favorite ingredients! Each session is a one-week virtual course (5, one-and-a-half hour sessions).*Please Note: An adult must to be present for children 13 and under. Sign up for as few or many cooking class sessions as you wish!

Session 1: Pizza Dough How-To
Who doesn’t get excited about pizza?! During pizza week, campers will learn how to make pizza dough from scratch and learn what each of the ingredients do and why. Campers will get a short lesson on the history of pizza and why it is so popular. It will be a full week of pizza, flour, and fun!
Session 2: Dumplings & Egg Rolls Dipping Fun! (June 22nd – June 26th)
During dumpling and egg roll week, campers will learn all about the different styles of dumplings and egg rolls and the various cuisines they come from. Campers will learn the different fillings and various styles of wraps and how to wrap or roll them. Campers will also learn the histories of the ingredients and why they are steamed or fried. We will also see the authentic tools used to make each item.
Session 3: Cake Decorating Galore! (June 29th – July 3rd)
It’s time to use those artistic skills and get your colors ready! Campers will learn many techniques for cake decorating— beyond the baking and eating part! Let’s learn the fun and exciting world of cake decorating together…campers will learn how to frost a cake, how to make frosting flowers, piping tricks, and how to make frosting look as smooth as ice.
Session 4: Sushi Date (July 6th – July 10th)
The fun and excitement of sushi isn’t just about the fish! There are many ingredients that make sushi delicious for all taste buds and preferences. Campers will learn how to roll sushi with a bamboo mat and how the rolls are traditionally eaten.
Session 5: Gnocchi Creations (July 13th – July 17th)
Be transported back to the Italian countryside of Lombardy or Liguria with gnocchi week. Campers will learn all about gnocchi, where they come from, and their ingredients. Campers will explore the similarities and differences from pasta and how versatile gnocchi can be. You will learn to love them as much as you love pasta and maybe more!
Session 6: Cupcakes Fun (July 20th – July 24th)
Cupcake decorating doesn’t have to be all about fancy flowers and piping! Let’s get ready for some DIRT! During cupcake week, campers will learn how to make fun shapes and decorations out of unusual (but edible!) materials.
Session 7: Naan & Falafel for Everyone! (July 27th – July 31st)
During naan and falafel week, campers will learn all about these wonderful alternatives to bread and meat! Naan is bread that is different than pita and more like a flatbread—campers will learn all about why it is baked a certain way and how to use it in meals. Falafel is a delicious, protein-packed food and is one of the most amazing vegetarian items out there!
Session 8: Fruity & Delicious Hand Pies (August 3rd – August 7th)
Fruity delicious! During Hand Pie week, we will learn all about pies—both sweet and savory! Campers will learn the differences between pie doughs and which ones you can and can’t use for pies. We will learn about puff pastry and rough puff—which ones are easy and which ones are very time consuming to make. We will also learn the best techniques for cooking your filling.
Session 9: Pierogis (August 10th – August 14th)
Polish pierogis are a fun and delicious way to celebrate special occasions. You can fill them with all sorts of fun ingredients to make them savory or sweet! We will explore techniques for both pan frying and boiling.
$50 for Cooking with SAGE equipment kit, which includes all the tools and supplies + ingredient shopping lists needed to participate in any of the sessions for the summer!
$100 per individual session for access to LIVE cooking classes
If you’d like to just sign up for the weekly sessions, and you have your own equipment – you can always order the equipment kit later on!
