NDMU received a $2.5 million gift from the estate of an alumna and loyal supporter in 2020, making it the largest realized bequest in the University’s history.

Rose Terracina ‘53, who joined NDMU’s Montrose Society in 2015, included the University in her will to establish an endowed scholarship named the Rose Terracina and Josephine Terracina Scholarship Fund. Rose and her sister, Josephine ‘55, valued their Notre Dame experience, and Rose demonstrated her commitment to the overall success of the University and its students by including NDMU in her estate plans. The scholarship is designed to support deserving students in need.

“Rose Terracina’s bequest is a testament to her deep love for her alma mater and her passion for providing students with the lifechanging opportunity to become leaders to transform the world,” said President Marylou Yam. “Our legacy givers in the Montrose Society invest in NDMU’s future by providing stable support for our students for years to come.”

Montrose Society members build on the legacy of NDMU’s School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) foundresses and financial supporters. Their philanthropy helped ensure that future generations of students could achieve their dreams of a quality education and make a difference.
