BALTIMORE – A pair of dynamic local leaders will share their journeys and provide a road map for ascending to the highest levels of leadership at Notre Dame of Maryland University’s annual Charles J. Busta III Business Forum on Tuesday, November 12 at 12 p.m. in Doyle Formal.

Baltimore natives Keeyana Lock ’06, MD, and Tammira Lucas, DBA, will serve as the event’s featured speakers. Each will discuss their own unique path and the various obstacles they had to overcome to reach the top of their respective professions as part of this year’s theme, “Leadership 2024: Embrace Your Purpose.” The Busta Business Forum is a free event which is open to the public.

Dr. Lock graduated from Notre Dame with a bachelor’s degree in biology, beginning an educational journey which would culminate in her becoming the first medical doctor in her family. She is currently a medical science liaison in the therapeutic area of neurotoxin science at AbbVie, a pharmaceutical company which employs 50,000 individuals across over 70 countries worldwide. Dr. Lock joined AbbVie after previously serving as a medical professor in Baltimore and Florida for seven-plus years, overseeing a group of over 30 physicians in a manager role at Select Medical.

Recognized as one of Baltimore's Top 40 under 40 leaders by Baltimore Business Journal in 2016, Dr. Lucas is the founder of The Cube Cowork, the largest black women owned coworking space in the United States that provides babysitting services. She is a strong advocate for women in business, especially moms. Dr. Lucas has helped cultivate many entrepreneur communities locally and nationally to help increase access to funding and support service resources for founders of color. Currently, Dr. Lucas is the venture growth advisor for the Urban Business Innovation Initiative at TEDCO and an assistant professor of business at Coppin State University.

The annual Charles J. Busta III Business Forum is designed to showcase the thoughts and experiences of business leaders, especially women, to encourage creativity and personal growth. The speaker series was created in memory of Charles J. “CB” Busta, a Notre Dame trustee and marketing executive who died in 1999. Charles' wife, Bonnie, graduated from Notre Dame in 2004 with a master's degree in teaching.

Established in 1895, Notre Dame of Maryland University (NDMU) is a private, Catholic institution in Baltimore, Maryland, with the mission to educate leaders to transform the world. Notre Dame has been named one of the best "Regional Universities North" by U.S. News & World Report.
