Accreditation at NDMU

Accreditation and Program Approval

  • Notre Dame of Maryland University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).
  • Notre Dame of Maryland University is a member of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) and belongs to the Southern Regional Education Board.
  • The School of Education is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
  • The School of Nursing’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing degree programs at Notre Dame of Maryland University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org).
  • The School of Pharmacy is accredited through the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education. More details can be found on the School of Pharmacy's website.
  • The Art Therapy (MA) program at Notre Dame of Maryland University is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of The Accreditation Council for Art Therapy Education.
  • NDMU’s Doctorate in Occupational Therapy program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy.  More details can be found on the Occupational Therapy website.
  • NDMU’s Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies Program has attained Accreditation – Provisional status from the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant. (Please visit the NDMU PA Studies Program’s website for additional information regarding its accreditation status.)
  • Degree and certificate programs across the University are approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC).
  • The Maryland State Department of Education and MHEC collaborate on the approval of education programs. 
  • The Maryland Board of Nursing and MHEC collaborate on the approval of nursing programs.

Middle States Accreditation

Notre Dame of Maryland University is accredited by MSCHE. The University was last reaffirmed on June 22, 2017 after its regular Self-Study and accreditation review. The University received several commendations. Its next evaluation is scheduled for 2025-2026. For more information, please see: https://www.msche.org/institution/0157/.

The School of Education is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
