Honors Convocation at Notre Dame of Maryland University celebrates the spirit and values of this institution. Each year in this ceremony we bring together the academic community of Notre Dame to illuminate the meaning of academic honor.

This year, the University celebrates the 85th anniversary of the Honor Code. Even while we stress personal honor at Honors Convocation, we encourage students to see the beauty of academic life by this ceremony wherein we provide a visual symbol of a community of scholars.

Students in the upper levels who have earned honors and awards during the previous academic year receive them at this Convocation to inspire and encourage their peers and to affirm the value and integrity of intellectual work. Students and faculty will line up at 3 p.m.

The theme, grounded in Laudato Si’, is “Community Resilience & Empowerment.” Our keynote address will be from 11am-12pm in LeClerc Theatre, followed by several interactive afternoon workshops from 1pm-1:45pm and 2pm-2:45pm.

This year's keynote speaker is Jamie McDonald, current CEO of UpSurge Baltimore. Jamie is an experienced entrepreneur, movement builder, speaker, and workshop leader. Prior to joining UpSurge, she was an advisor to global entrepreneurs, social innovators, and impact-focused executives at companies, organizations and philanthropies. UpSurge Baltimore launched in 2021 to found, support, scale and invest in high-impact startups. UpSurge is a public benefit corporation (PBC) working to propel Baltimore into the top tier of innovation cities
