NDMU Drama Welcomes Large Crowds for Little Shop of Horrors Spring Production
NDMU Drama was excited to welcome over 250 audience members to LeClerc Theatre for its spring musical production of Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Ann Turiano and musical direction by Adele Dinerstein! The ensemble—22 members strong—represented all corners of the University, including undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members and alums. Student Alumni Leadership Council Hosts Bridge the Gap Networking Event with NDMU Alums
Thanks to all NDMU alumni who returned to campus last week for our Student Alumni Leadership Council’s Bridge the Gap networking event! Alumni were able to connect with current students in an informal setting, sharing experiences in their chosen career field and providing tips on how to succeed professionally after graduation.

School of Pharmacy Graduate, Current Adjunct Faculty Member Earns National Leadership Award
A 2018 graduate and current adjunct faculty member for NDMU's School of Pharmacy received a prestigious national award for her commitment to improving healthcare outcomes for Hispanic communities.
Dr. Mayrim Millan-Barea D’18 was named to the National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA) and National Hispanic Health Foundation (NHHF) inaugural 40 Under 40 list, which spotlights individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication, exemplary leadership, and profound contributions to the advancement of health equity. Dr. Millan-Barea was celebrated along with the other honorees at the NHMA and NHHF’s 30th Anniversary Celebration and Leadership Summit Gala in Washington, D.C. on April 13.

ABSN Graduate Spotlight: Kaya Stokes
Kaya Stokes’ desire to work in healthcare began early on, and it only grew stronger in high school after a concussion led to the discovery of a pituitary adenoma tumor in her brain. Stokes had already overcome other health obstacles as a child. After working with so many medical professionals over the years, she wanted to be able to provide the same kind of support to future patients.
Kaya’s goal will soon be realized, as she will join Mercy Medical Center as an ICU nurse after graduating from the School of Nursing’s ABSN program this May!

NDMU Community Gathers for Plant It! 2024
Thanks to all volunteers from the NDMU community who combined to plant 88 trees and over 1,000 flowers across campus during Plant It! 2024 on April 23! Our championship team, with 746 points, is Make Some Noyes, composed of team members from both the Registrar’s Office & Institutional Advancement.
Special thanks goes to:
- Facilities who prepped the beds, drilled holes for the trees and spread out the flowers
- Student Engagement and Human Resources for sponsoring lunch for all our volunteers
- Every single one of our NDMU community members who spent time planting trees and flowers!
Dr. Meaghan Davidson Receives Baltimore Collegetown Network 25th Anniversary Staff Award
Congratulations to Dr. Meaghan Davidson, NDMU’s Associate Vice President for Student Life & Dean of Students, who received the Baltimore Collegetown Network's 25th Anniversary Staff Award in recognition of her outstanding service to our students and the NDMU community!
Dr. Davidson was one of 13 professionals across the Baltimore Collegetown Network to be recognized at the celebratory event, whose invited guests included Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman, college and university presidents, including NDMU president Marylou Yam, and Baltimore Collegetown board members.

School of Arts, Sciences and Business
Dr. Nicole Dular, assistant professor in NDMU's Philosophy Department, had her paper of original research, “Moral Rackets”, finish as a finalist in the Northeast Normativity Workshop. It was one of seven top ranked papers out of 53 papers that were assessed by blind peer review.
Dr. Dular has additionally been invited to participate as a speaker on a panel on standpoint epistemology at the Canadian Philosophical Association in Montreal this June, and she has been accepted to participate in a conference in philosophical pedagogy in Boston from June 24-28. The Northeast Workshop to Learn About Multicultural Philosophy (NEWLAMP) is designed to give philosophy teachers the tools to approach, and successfully integrate in their general undergraduate courses, contemporary issues in Native American, Indigenous and Land-Based social and political philosophy.

Four School of Education members and one Professional Development School (PDS) partner traveled to Anaheim, California for the National Association for School University Partnerships (NASUP) Conference from March 23-25. On Tuesday, April 16, The School of Education held its annual Spring Retreat at the National Aquarium! It was a great productive day full of strategic planning, presentations on the National Aquarium’s sustainability efforts, a visit to the new Harbor Wetland exhibit, a behind the scenes tour of Shark Alley, and building healthy relationships with one another. Many thanks to Dr. Juliann Dupuis, Associate Dean, Associate Professor of Science and STEM Program Coordinator, and Dr. Lisa Pallett, Associate Dean and Associate Professor, who graciously organize such wonderful retreats for SOE faculty and staff!
Dr. Angelo Letizia, associate professor in the School of Education, has a new publication, Learning to Love in Winter, published by In Case of Emergency Press. The publication is available here.
Ashley White, a current student in the School of Education's Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages program, was selected as a 2024 Golden Apple Winner in her home state of Washington. The equivalent of a Teacher of the Year award, 10 teachers from the Archdiocese of Washington are selected annually for the prestigious award.

On May 23, 2024, the Loyola Notre Dame Library, along with the 17 libraries across the University System of Maryland and Affiliated Institutions, will be implementing a new integrated library system, which includes a new and improved search tool, OneSearch!
